EMMANUEL DE LEON JR.

He finished his Master’s Degree in Music (MM), major in Choral Conducting, at the University of the Philippines College of Music. From the same university, he also earned his Bachelor of Music (BM) degree, and a holder of Diploma for Creative and Performing Musical Arts (DCPMA), both major in Music Education with emphasis in Voice Performances. 

He was a member of the UP Concert Chorus (UPCC) from 2002-2012, and was appointed, and served as Assistant Conductor from 2007-2012. He led the UPCC in reaping numerous awards and recognitions in different international competitions in Europe during their world tour in 2012. 

He is currently the Music Director of the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale (UPMC). Under his tutelage, UPMC participated in various international choral festivals and won some of the toughest competitions: – Osaka International Choral Festival in Osaka, Japan; 10th Kruizawa International Choir Festival in Karuizawa, Japan; Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition  in Marktoberdorf, Gemany; Festival Internacional de Musica di Cantonigros in Cantonigros, Spain; Sing ‘N Joy Manila by Interkuktur Germany held in Manila Philippimes; and Certamen Internacional de Habaneras y Polyfonia en Torrevieja España, in Torrevieja, Spain, where they won the 1st prize in the Polyphonic Category.

Currently, he is a faculty member of the Conducting and Choral Ensemble Department in the UP College of Music. He is also a faculty member of the Kodaly Society of the Philippines where he handles conducting and chorus classes for its annual summer certificate course. He sings Bass-Baritone with the internationally-acclaimed, Philippine Madrigal Singers.
