Fidel G. Calalang Jr.

He finished his music studies at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music where he also is a faculty member of the Piano and Conducting Departments. He is also the head of the Composition, Conducting and Music Technology Department at the UST Conservatory of Music.

He is the founder and conductor of the internationally acclaimed UST Singers. Since its foundation in 1992, he has led the choir in 35 international concert tours and has won for over 70 top prizes in choral competitions around the world including the two-time Choir of the World Grand Prize won in the United Kingdom.

​Awarded the Most Outstanding Thomasian for Music and Performing Arts, he won top prizes in the League of Filipino Composer and CCP’s Composition Competition, First Prize at the International Composition Competition in Ojai, California,USA, the NCCA Choral Writing Competition, the Best Conductor Prize at the International Choral Competition in Monster, the Netherlands, and the Best Contemporary Choral Arrangement Prize in Florence Italy. He has served as jury in international competitions in the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Poland and the Czech Republic. His choral works are published by Earthsongs Music USA.
