RODOLFO “BOY” DELARMENTE

Professor Rodolfo Delarmente is a music teacher by profession. He is a composer arranger and musical director of several choral groups in Metro manila. Presently, he handles the St. Mary’s Academy Vocal group of Pasay City, The RVM Sister’s Chorus and the Canticle Choir-2nd Generation. He has served as consultant in different community and government choirs and has been invited as guest lecturer in different choral workshops in the Philippines and abroad. He also has been an adjudicator in different choral competitions in the country.

As musical director, he has led the St. Mary’s Academy Glee Club to win the championship tittle in NAMCYA) in 1998 Youth Choir Competitions. He has also led the Pasay Kabataang Barangay Community Choir to consistently garner the Grand Prizes in the National Himig Choral Competition for three consecutive years from 1982-1984. The Canticle Choir-1st Generation was awarded Most Outstanding Cultural Group in 1984 at Malacanang Palace by the late President Ferdinand Marcos. He was awarded as the Most Outstanding Choral Conductor of the Year and same award was given to him by the Catholic Mass Media Award.

In 1999, he was invited in the World Music Symposium in Rotterdam to give lectures and background of ethnic music in the Philippines. He was invited as guest conductor in the Asian Youth Choir in Niigata Prefecture, Japan in 2002. Professor Rodolfo Delarmente, led the DLSU Chorale on a winning streak in its “1995 European Tour by Sweeping the Grand Prizes in all the competitions in Italy, France, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, Austria and Spain. In 2013, the DLSU Chorale won Grand Prizes in Lithuania, Karpenissi Greece, Preveza Greece and Czech Republic.
